But now, powerful pro-Sharon "Zionist Lobby" interests, centered around a group of extremely wealthy financiers and businessmen who call themselves the "Mega Group," have launched a massive pressure and arm twisting campaign, to force Fox, to bury the story. As a result of such pressure, Fox removed the transcripts of the December 11 - 14 coverage from its website.
EIR investigators have confirmed, that the lead role in this effort, has been played by a group called CAMERA, which stands for "Committee for Accurate Middle East Reporting in America." After the December, 11- 14 segments, CAMERA launched an e-mail, fax, and phone call campaign, to force the FOX network to drop its probe of the Israeli spying. The CAMERA mobilization was, in fact, directed by the "Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs" (JINSA), a group which is at the heart of the Israeli penetration of the US defence and national security establishment, and which is an integral part of the "Clash of Civilizations" mob in and around the Bush Administration, centered around Deputy Secretary of State Paul Wolfowitz and Defence Policy Board chief Richard Perle.
JINSA was founded in 1973, in the immediate aftermath of the October Arab-Israeli war. It has enticed active-duty and retired American military officers, by all-expenses-paid tours to Israel, where they are indoctrinated to see America's security as identical to Israel's security. The current chairman and CEO of JINSA is David P. Steinmann, who is also a director of CAMERA. Other JINSA directors include Perle and former CIA director James Woolsey.
On December 12 and 13, 2001, CAMERA issued bulletins, calling on their supporters to mobilise pressure on Fox TV, to kill the story. The first bulletin was titled "Fox News Recycles Bogus Anti-Israel Story," and the next day's bulletin was titled, "Fox News' Carl Cameron Recycles More Rubbish." The two bulletins formed the basis of a news story, in the December 21, 2001 issue of the rightwing-Zionist weekly Forward, under the headline "Israel Calls Fox's Spy Reports 'Baseless.'" Forward is owned by former hedge-fund manager Michael Steinhardt, a charter member of the Mega Group, who has recently been involved in launching a major propaganda effort, on behalf of Sharon, under the dubious title Emet--the Hebrew word for "truth."
Two other individuals are known to be involved in the intense efforts to squelch the Israel spy-scandal. One is Morton Klein, head of the Sharonist "Zionist Organization of America (ZOA). Klein was the main Jewish-Zionist bigwig, who accompanied leading "Christian fundamentalists," for a July 30 summit at the Bush White House. On that occasion, they warned the President's representatives, that they would face angry protests from tens of millions of American fundies, if the Bush Administration didn't give full backing to the Sharon government in Israel. The other individual is Abraham Foxman, national director of the "Anti-Defamation League" (ADL), who has stated that he "had conversations" with top Fox officials, about the December 11 - 14 series.
Washington experts believe that the massive pressure against the [Fox] series, will backfire, and will only add to the reservations and suspicions, about the degree and intensity of Israeli spying and related activities inside the US.
