I am writing in support of Rep. Cynthia Mckinney. Recently, she has been attacked relentlessly by the media about her statements regarding the evidence on the Bush administration's possible foreknowledge of the events of 911. I and many of my colleagues support her statements.
I am a retired Air Force Veteran and know how the military "Chain of Command" works. I cannot believe the level of incompetence displayed by the Dept. of Defense on the morning of September 11. Eastern Seaboard airspace is one of the most heavily guarded and monitored areas in the world. The FAA tracked four commercial flights on radar hundreds of miles off course for an hour. They promptly notified the DOD. Of all the Eastern Seaboard Air Force bases equipped with fighter squadrons, not one launched any interceptors during this time.
Andrews AFB (only 10 miles from the Pentagon) failed to launch their fighters when they tracked Flight 77 approaching DC airspace. With the knowledge that the WTC Towers were hit a full 40 MINUTES BEFOREHAND, they failed to scramble any fighters. What were they doing, SLEEPING? In addition, the airspace around the WTC Towers and the Manhattan area was classified a "no-fly zone."
Also, taking into consideration just last year when pro golfer Payne Stewart's plane was intercepted promptly by a fighter from Tyndall AFB in Florida when it went off course and crashed killing him and his crew. Why isn't this brought up by the media?
The actions of President Bush on September 11 leave much to be desired. Why did he just sit and continue to listen to children's stories at a Sarasota elementary school for over a half hour after he was notified by Mr. Card about a national emergency? Is this the proper actions a "Commander in Chief" is supposed to take. No, I don't think so. He should have immediately excused himself from the children to pursue "more important matters." A few weeks later at a press conference in Orlando, why did he state that he saw "the first tower hit on television" when there was no live coverage of the "first" tower being hit or any possibility that anyone would know? What television was he watching? (cnn.com)
Why were the 19 terrorists, identified in less than 24 hours, not on the original passenger lists of the airline companies? Why isn't the media broadcasting the flight recorder tapes of Flight 93 just like in all other pre-911 major airline disasters? So far all we have been told by the media is that the passengers on the flight are heroes. And just to expand matters further, why was Osama bin Laden not arrested when he received treatment at an American medical facility in Dubai by a CIA agent who visited him there just six weeks prior to 911? A petition for a major investigation by thousands of concerned citizens and numerous organizations was brought before Senator's Boxer and Feinstein in California. What is the status of this?
All in all, I do not believe the official version of what happened on 911 as portrayed by the media nor should anyone else if there is any common sense or investigative inquisitiveness left in the government and the media. That is why I support Cynthia McKinney and I urge anyone reading this to do the same.
